Apple has announced the "iPhone 8" and "iPhone 8 plus" at its keynote event held at the new Steve Jobs Theatre at Apple park. Unsurprisingly the new phones look very similar to last years iPhone 7 and 7 Plus but there are a bit key changes. The iPhone 8 and 8 plus have glass backs rather than aluminium, which was done in order to support wireless charging. The frame is made of aerospace grade aluminium, and both phones are also dust and water resistant. The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch display. Both now have Apple's true tone technology which dynamically adjusts the white balance according to the ambient light around you. The redesigned speakers are also set to deliver 25 percent louder sound, with better bass. At the heart of it, all is the new "A11 bionic processor featuring a 6 Core CPU and a brand new Apple designed 3-Core graphics processor, which is set to deliver 30 percent more graphics performance. The iPhone 8 has an improved 12-Megapixel rear camera, thanks to what Apple calls "Deeper pixels". There is also a new image signal processor for quicker autofocus in low light. Video capabilities have improved with support for 4K 60fps and 1080p at 240fps. Portrait mode continues to be the main allure of the iPhone 8 plus, and now it gets the brand new feature called portrait lighting which lets you apply up to five different professional lighting effects. Battery life for the both phones is similar to that of their predecessor's.But now there is also fast charging, also thanks to the glass back the iPhone 8 and 8 plus supports wireless charging using the popular Qi wireless charging standards. Apple's new smartphones will be available in "Space Grey, Silver and a new shade of Gold. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus starts at $699 and $799 and are available on September 22nd. Apple will open pre orders on September 15th in select countries, including France, China, the US, and the UK, and the phones are expected to be in stores on September 22nd. Availability broadens by September 29th to more countries, particularly in Eastern Europe, India and the middle east.
