The Blue Whale Game also is known as "Blue Whale Challenge", is an online challenge that lays down a total of 50 tasks. These tasks count down from psychologically twisted games to self-inflicted wounds, and ultimately, provokes to suicide. Why would someone take up a challenge that asks them to commit suicide?

The game developer and the first tragedy
Blue Whale began in Russia in 2013 with Philipp Budeikin and "F57", one of the names of the so-called "death group" of the social network. Philipp Budeikin, a former psychology student who was expelled from his university claimed that he invented the game. Budeikin stated that his purpose was to clean the society by pushing to suicide those he deemed as having no value and allegedly caused its first suicide in 2015. In Russia in 2016, Blue Whale came into broader use among teenagers after a journalist brought attention to it through an article that linked many unrelated suicide victims to the Blue Whale. Later, Budeikin was arrested and pled guilty to "inciting at least 16 teenage girls to commit suicide".

The curator asks the participants to perform one challenge each day. Slowly, curator provides acts of self-harm to be committed. On the 50th Day, participants are urged to win by committing suicide and record it. If the participants refuse to commit suicide the curator threatened them. At last the participants commit suicide.
